Bus Rover 40th Anniversary Tour – 21 September
Want to help SE London Camra celebrate our 40th Anniversary?
Then climb aboard the Red Bus Rover 40th Anniversary Tour!
What?
A circular tour around the branch area aboard a historic Routemaster bus visiting a number of our best pubs.
When?
Sun 21 September 2014.
Where?
Meet 12pm at the Market Porter, Stoney St, SE1 for 12.30pm prompt departure.
Then visiting the pubs below (click on pub name to view its WhatPub entry).
If two pubs are listed together you will have the choice of either.
Montague Arms, Peckham (depart 1.30pm)
Ivy House, Nunhead (depart 2.15pm)
Dog & Bell, Deptford (depart 3.15pm)
Old Mill, Plumstead Common (depart 4.15pm)
Blythe Hill Tavern, Forest Hill (depart 5pm)
Westow House / Grape & Grain, Crystal Palace (depart 6pm)
Mansion House / Old Red Lion, Kennington (depart 7pm)
To ensure we maximise the use of the bus, we will spend around 45mins at each pub, and on average there will be 10-15 mins transfer time on the bus between each one.
Returning to The Market Porter, SE1 by around 7.45pm.
Cost?
£10 per person towards the bus hire which must be paid in advance – either hand to a branch committee member on one of our weekly crawls (see Diary), post a cheque (payable to SE London CAMRA, to Steve Silcock, 34 Stowage, London, SE8 3EF) or make an online banking transfer (details supplied on request).
To speed up bar service at each pub (excl Market Porter) we have arranged with the landlords to operate a token system. The branch is subsidising the cost of drinks and so tokens will be available to purchase on the day (or in advance if desired) at a discounted price of £1.50 per half-pint (Mansion House= 1 token per two thirds, 2 tokens per pint).
Food?
Due to the relatively short stay at each pub, ordering food will be impractical and so we suggest bringing some food to sustain you through the day. A number of us will be meeting around 11am at the Pommelers Rest, Tower Bridge for breakfast and you are welcome to join us.
Register?
Reserve your place asap as once they’re gone, they’re gone!
Please email pubs@sel.camra.org.uk with your name and contact number plus details of how you are making payment.
Please note that whilst we will aim to adhere to the above schedule, we cannot guarantee this on the day as it may become necessary to amend the route at short notice
We look forward to welcoming you on board!
